AHMEDABAD: On a Saturday afternoon Ahmedabad BRTS, crowded with hopeful riders, made a journey for cause from RTO to Chandranagar. This drive, planned by a medical facility, was clubbed with a motive to encourage diabetic patients to confront their disease and not let it affect their desire for a blissful life.
Diabetes expert, Dr Urman Dhruv said, "India is global diabetes capital.

And in India, Gujarat houses more than 7,50,000 diabetic patients which makes the state country's diabetes capital. To top it all, 15% of Amdavadis suffer from diabetes. And if this continues every third Amdavadi will be diabetic in the next few years."
Vinit Pandey, 9, type-1 diabetic and student of Bright School, said, "Mom never gives me Cadbury, but if I am good she sometimes buys me my favorite Raspberry cone."
Dhruv said, "Few years back, 55 and above was the average age for diabetes infected but because of our today's sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy lifestyle the age has now lowered to 35."
Medisurge personnel associated with diabetic care department are hoping to organize events to generate awareness about diabetes.
